Know new office bearers of RPP (with election results)

KATHMANDU, December 5: Rajendra Prasad Lingden has been elected the new Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) during the National General Convention of the party held in Kathmandu. Lingeden defeated the incumbent Chairman Kamal Thapa in an election held on Saturday with a margin of 227 votes,  Likewise, Bikram Pandey, Budhiman Tamang, Dhurba Bahadur Pradhan and Roshan Karki were elected for the posts of vice-chair positions. Similarly, Kunti Shahi was elected general secretary of the party. Shahi defeated actress Rekha Thapa. Similarly, Dhawal Shumsher and Bhuwan Phatak were also elected the general secretaries of the party.

KATHMANDU: Newly elected office bearers of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) including Chairman Rajendra Lingden and central committee members took oath of office and secrecy amid an event organized in the capital on Sunday.  Coordinator of the party's election committee, Hari Bahadur Basnet administered oath to the office bearers including chairman, four vice-chairs and three general secretaries. Chairman Lingden administered the oath to the members of the central committee in the oath-taking ceremony held at the National Academy.  Earlier, Lingden was declared victorious as the party chairman in the election results released on Sunday morning.  Nearly 4,000 delegates voted for a new executive committee on Saturday.  Defeating Thapa with a margin of 227 votes, Rajendra Lingden, 56, was elected chairman of the pro-Hindu party.  Lingden, the only lawmaker of the party in the federal parliament, secured as many as 1,844 votes out of 3,873 total votes. His contender, Thapa managed to win 1,617 votes, according to Hari Bahadur Basnet, party’s election officer. As many as 431 votes were declared invalid.  With this, Lingden will take charge of the party for the next four years. Here are some photos taken on Sunday afternoon.
