Nepal Govt Sends Five Ordinances to President, Sidestepping Parliament
Kathmandu. The government, nearing a two-thirds majority, has sent five ordinances on various subjects to the President by bypassing the parliament (ending the session).The government had recommended issuing ordinances on April 14 to amend the Constitutional Council (Functions, Duties and Powers) Act, 2066 and the Cooperatives Act, 2074, and on April 15, ordinances related to health science institutes, some Nepal laws amendment, and universities.It is now up to President Ram Chandra Paudel whether to issue these five ordinances or not.
