NC President Deuba directs party leaders and cadres to engage in relief and rescue

KATHMANDU, June 16: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has directed the party leaders and cadres to get engaged in the relief and rescue works in flood-ravaged areas.  He took to the social media to direct the party ranks and files to involve in relief and rescue efforts during the troubled times of natural disaster in the country, mostly in Sindhupalchowk and Manang.  Former Prime Minister Deuba has also demanded the government step up immediate rescue efforts and announce relief package to the disaster survivor families.  The incessant rain-triggered flood and landslide have caused loss of lives and properties in Melamchi Bazaar of Sindhupalchowk and other areas.

PM Deuba summons meeting of key party leaders

KATHMANDU, Aug 8: Prime Minister and President of Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba has summoned a meeting of the key party leaders. The meeting is scheduled to take place at the Prime Minister’s Office at Baluwatar at 9 AM this morning. The meeting will dwell on the upcoming general elections and issues of seat sharing with the coalition members. The ruling NC is eying to be the largest party in the country through the election while the CPN (MC) is targeting to be the second largest. Of the 165 election constituencies, the NC is preparing to claim 99 seats while the CPN (MC) is preparing to claim 50 seats. Likewise, the CPN (US) wants 25 seats and the JSP wants 15 seats. One goes to the Rastriya Janamorcha Party.  A task force has been formed to prepare a strategy for seat sharing in the upcoming polls. The task force is also scheduled to hold its meeting on Monday.

NC Vice President Nidhi announces to contend for presidential position

KATHMANDU, Aug 27: Nepali Congress (NC) Vice President Bimalendra Nidhi has announced that he would be contesting for the party president post in the upcoming 14th General Convention.  With this announcement, he has established a contact office at Thapagaun of New Baneshwor for meeting the party leaders and cadres.  Inaugurating the office today, the former Deputy Prime Minister said he would be competing for the party’s chief post not to defeat, retire or prove anyone else incompetent in the party.  As he said on the occasion, he wished to further strengthen the party and contribute to the party to garner a majority in upcoming elections of all levels and his candidacy would be for supporting his wishes to come true.   According to him, the inspiration and contribution of founding leader BP Koirala were determining factors behind his present status in the NC. Stating that the party had a greater role in facilitating to promulgate the Constitution with the federal democratic republic and the inclusive political provisions though the party had no majority in the Constituent Assembly (CA), the leader said the party would own up the responsibility for the effective implementation of the Constitution.  He argued that irregularities have surfaced in each sector in the country for three years as the country was governed by a political party that does not believe in the spirit of the constitution.    Leader Nidhi said his party will present this issue to the public in the upcoming election. He further shared that over 35 percent of active members were youth therefore he will facilitate the youths to come into the party leadership.   On another note, Vice President Nidhi opined that the constitution has ensured religious freedom to all. On the occasion, central committee members, district presidents, and leaders from different regions were present.
