KATHMANDU, June 9: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has urged the party leaders and cadres to be assured of the 14th General Convention of the party in late August.
President Deuba, releasing a public statement on Wednesday, asserted that the party is bound to hold its 14th General Convention by mid- August [Nepali month of Bhadra] and he is fully committed to holding it on the stipulated time. The party has made public the convention schedule to be held from August 23 to 26.
"The general convention is not only a technical or administrative issue but also a significant political event. I know it is a grand campaign. It is not appropriate to cast doubt on general convention, arguing some leaders want it and some others deny," Deuba said in his statement.
“It [convention] should be held with the collective efforts of party leaders and members. So all should be responsible,” he said, urging for complete preparation of the general convention in the next two months. He also reminded that necessary preparations for formation of investigation on active membership are underway.
On a different note, President Deuba asked all leaders and cadres to adopt every safety measure in view of the COVID-19.
