Bhattari to remain federal council chair in his new party

KATHMANDU, July 26: Babu Ram Bhattarai is to remain federal council chair in his new political party. Bhattarai, who has faced action from the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) , was the federal council chair of the party. The party – Nepal Samajbadi Party – of Bhattarai will have two chairmen. Mahendra Raya Yadav and Ganga Shrestha are likely to enjoy the posts, according to the sources. The party is preparing to give a powerful post to the chairman of the federal council. Daily administrative decisions will be carried out by the executive chairman while the federal council chair will take decisions at policy levels, according to leaders close to Bhattarai.

Maoist Center’s Chair Dahal holds meeting with Bhattarai at Singha Durbar

KATHMANDU, July 19: Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal held a meeting with Babu Ram Bhattarai, federal council chair of Janata Samajbadi Party at Singha Durbar on Tuesday. The two leaders have been meeting frequently in recent days and the Babu Ram Bhattari faction of JSP is preparing to split from the party and launch a new political party. Bhattari has also been holding meetings with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba. The JSP has already decided to take action against the Bhattarai-led faction of the party and relieve them from their posts due to which the party is on the brink of split.

Babu Ram Bhattarai preparing to form a new political party

KATHMANDU, July 17: Babu Ram Bhattarai, chairman of the federal; council of Janata Samajbadi Party, is set to form a new political party. A central committee meeting of the party held earlier at Birgunj has decided to take action against Bhattarai and eight other leaders in charge of trying to split the party. Bhattari, who later scrapped the decision, is now preparing to form a new political party, according to the sources. A leader close to the Bhattari-led faction of JSP told Ratopati that a meeting of the faction held on Saturday had already decided to form a new political party. “The formation of a new party is likely to be finalized on Monday.”

Central Committee meeting of JSP begins at Birgunj

KATHMANDU, July 13: A central committee meeting of the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) is currently underway at Birgunj. As many as 600 people have attended the meeting, according to the party. The meeting kicked off a day after the Babu Ram Bhattarai-led faction held a similar meeting in Kathmandu. The Bhattarai faction of the party has not been invited to the meeting being held at Birgunj. As the disputes between two leaders, Chairman Upendra Yadav and Babu Ram Bhattarai, federal council chair, the party is at the brink of split.
