The Standing Committee (SC) meeting of CPN (UML) has started at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar to discuss the issues of formation of new government and party’s internal disputes.
KATHMANDU, November 23: A standing committee (SC) meeting of the main opposition party, CPN-UML is scheduled to be held on Tuesday.
“The meeting has been summoned for 11 AM at the Chyasal, Lalitpur-based Tulsilal Amatya Memorial Academy today to discuss the upcoming 10th general convention of the party,” said Sher Bahadur Tamang, party secretary at the central office.
“Besides, the meeting is also likely to make decisions on five percent of representatives of the general convention to be recommended by the central committee as per the statute of the party,” Secretary Tamang further stated.
The Standing Committee meeting of CPN UML today discussed political and organisational reports and an amendment to the statute to be presented in the party's statute convention.
KATHMANDU, September 19: Communist Party of Nepal, (Unified Marxist Lenin), the main opposition party, has summoned its standing committee (SC) meeting on Monday.
The meeting is scheduled for 12:30 PM today, Sher Bahadur Tamang, secretary of the party at the central office told Ratopati.
The meeting has been called as a preparation for the Statute Convention of the party scheduled on October 1 to 3. The meeting will dwell mainly on three reports to be presented during the convention. Political, organizational and statute amendment proposals are to be submitted to the Statute Convention, according to secretary Tamang.
KATHMANDU, August 25: The main opposition party, CPN-UML, has decided to hold its 10th general convention from November 26 to 28 later this year.
A standing committee (SC) meeting held earlier on Tuesday at Tulsidas Memorial Building at Chasal took the decision to this effect, according to Pradip Kumar Gyawali, spokesperson for the party.
The meeting also decided on its Statute Convention from October 20 to 22 later this year. A SC meeting on September 10 and 11 and a Central Committee meeting on October 12 and 13 have been summoned to hold discussion in this regard.
The SC meeting was also participated by the leaders who were earlier considered close to the chairman of CPN (Unified Democratic).
Similarly, the meeting also decided to implement a 10-points agreement prepared earlier by the Task Force formed to resolve the intra-party row.
KATHMANDU, Aug 24: Leaders of the CPN-UML, who had been skipping party’s meetings after it was revived on March 7, joined the Standing Committee meeting on Tuesday.
The leaders were reported to be close to Madhav Kumar Nepal, who recently formed a new party --- NCP (Unified Socialist)---, opted not to join his party.
Tuesday’s meeting began at 3PM after making ‘necessary preparations’, at the Chyasal, Lalitpur-based Tulsilal Amatya Memorial Academy. The meeting was, however, scheduled to hold at 11PM on Tuesday.
The leaders of the ‘new camp’ in the party have been demanding the establishment faction implement the 10-point agreement endorsed by the ten-member task force formed in May. They held a meeting with party Chairman KP Sharma Oli on Monday where the latter agreed to address their concerns.
KATHMANDU, Aug 24: The meeting of the Standing Committee of the main opposition CPN-UML, which was to be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, has been rescheduled for 3PM.
According to the UML’s central office secretary, Sher Bahadur Tamang, the meeting is going to be convened at the Tulsi Lal Memorial Building in Chyasal, Lalitpur.
Earlier, the meeting held between CPN (UML) Chairperson KP Sharma Oli and Standing Committee members on Monday had reached a conclusion to implement the 10-point recommendations furnished by the Committee formed to resolve the intraparty disputes and to further consolidate the party by bringing on board the disgruntled faction.
KATHMANDU, Aug 17: CPN-UML Chairman KP Shamra Oli has summoned separate meetings of the Standing Committee and parliamentary party for Tuesday amid speculations that the government is introducing an ordinance with eased provisions to split a political party.
Party’s SC meeting kicked off at 11 AM at the Chyasal-based Tulsilal Memorial Academy. Following the SC meeting, the party's PP meeting will also be held at 2 PM on Tuesday itself.

KATHMANDU, Aug 9: A Standing Committee meeting of the CPN-UML endorsed the party statute amendment proposal on Monday.
Vice Chairperson Bamdev Gautam shared that the SC meeting decided to forward the proposal to the Central Committee meeting.
Earlier, a SC meeting also decided to organize the Statute Convention on September 12 and 13.
Sher Bahadur Tamang, secretary at party office, said that CC meeting scheduled for Monday afternoon would discuss the political report by Chairman KP Sharma Oli and organizational proposal tabled by General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel.
