KATHMANDU, Aug 24: Leaders of the CPN-UML, who had been skipping party’s meetings after it was revived on March 7, joined the Standing Committee meeting on Tuesday.
The leaders were reported to be close to Madhav Kumar Nepal, who recently formed a new party --- NCP (Unified Socialist)---, opted not to join his party.
Tuesday’s meeting began at 3PM after making ‘necessary preparations’, at the Chyasal, Lalitpur-based Tulsilal Amatya Memorial Academy. The meeting was, however, scheduled to hold at 11PM on Tuesday.
The leaders of the ‘new camp’ in the party have been demanding the establishment faction implement the 10-point agreement endorsed by the ten-member task force formed in May. They held a meeting with party Chairman KP Sharma Oli on Monday where the latter agreed to address their concerns.
