PM Deuba fails to persuade Dahal, Nepal

As the government nears the February 28 deadline for securing parliamentary ratification of the Millennium Challenge Corporation deal, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba continues his bid to convince the two ruling coalition partners — CPN-Maoist Centre Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal and CPN (Unified Socialist) Chair Madhav Kumar Nepal to support MCC ratification, but his efforts have not yielded any positive results yet.

PM Deuba will reshuffle the Cabinet soon: Madhav Nepal

KATHMANDU, June 19: Chairman of CPN (Unified Socialist), Madhav Kumar Nepal maintained that the Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba will reshuffle the Cabinet soon. Addressing the editors of various news media on Sunday, Chairman Nepal said that PM Deuba will be reshuffling the Cabinet soon. “We have already sent names of ministers from our party and the PM has agreed to reshuffle the Cabinet accordingly,” Nepal said. Earlier, the CPN (US) had recalled its ministers from the government.

PM Deuba to return home after visiting Banaras today

KATHMANDU, April 3: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is scheduled to return to Nepal on Sunday after visiting Banaras. PM Deuba is currently on his three day visit to India leading a 50 member team. Deuba had flown to Delhi on April 1 on the invitation of his Indian counterpart Narandra Modi. PM Deuba is scheduled to be welcomed by Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adidtya Nath. Nepal and India on Saturday signed four agreements.

KATHMANDU, April 1: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba left for India on Friday afternoon. PM Deuba is on his three day official visit to India on an invitation of his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi. Leading the 50 member Nepali delegation, Deuba flew to India this afternoon on an aircraft of Nepal Airlines. The team is scheduled to return to Nepal at 6:10 on Sunday. PM Deuba is accompanied by his wife Arju Deuba, Minister for Energy and Water Resources, Pampa Bhusal, Minister for Health and Population, Birod Kathiwada and other officials of various ministries. Saudi Prince Saud calls on PM Deuba

KATHMANDU, March 15: Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud of Saudi Arabia held a meeting with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Tuesday. The Saudi Prince arrived in Kathmandu on Monday. He will be staying in Nepal for two days. During the meeting, PM Deuba extended his gratitude towards the support of Saudi Arabia to Nepal. Foreign Minister Saud on his part expressed gratitude for the contribution of Nepali laborers in the developmental activities of Saudi Arabia. Nepal and Saudi Arabia also signed a ‘General Cooperation Agreement’ on Tuesday.

PM Deuba visits UML Chair Oli

KATHMANDU, Jan 8: Prime Minister and President of the Nepali Congress (NC) Sher Bahadur Deuba reached Balkot, in Bhaktapur earlier this morning to hold discussion with the Chairman of the main opposition party CPN-UML, KP Sharma Oli. A meeting of the ruling alliance held on Friday had urged PM Deuba to initiate meetings with Oli and find a solution to the continuous obstruction of the opposition party in parliament. Following the meeting, PM Deuba has reached Balkot to discuss and find a solution to the house stalemate with UML Chair Oli. According to Govinda Pariyar, the press advisor of PM Deuba, two leaders held discussions about house obstruction and its solution. PM Deuba also urged Oli for solidarity in parliament regarding the ratification of the Millennium Corporate Challenge (MCC) compact. The main opposition party, CPN-UML has been continuously obstructing the house proceedings and meetings accusing Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota of supporting leader Madhav Kumar Nepal to register a new party after the UML took action against him and his followers.

PM Deuba in eastern Nepal to take stock of floods and landslides victims

KATHMANDU, October 23: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is travelling eastern Nepal to take stocks of victims of recent floods and landslides. PM Deuba is scheduled to visit Sunsari, Morang, Illam and Panchthar districts on Sunday, according to PM’s personal secretary Bhanu Deuba. PM Deuba left for eastern Nepal at around 8 AM this morning and will be back in Kathmandu by the evening. After the visit, PM Deuba has assured victims of immediate and sustainable support and compensation. PM Deuba recently visited various districts in Sudurpaschim Province which were largely hit by disasters triggered by unseasonal incessant rainfalls.

Nepal-US relations to be further strengthened: PM Deuba

KATHMANDU, July 15: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the friendship and partnership between Nepal and the United States of America would be further strengthened during his new tenure. PM Deuba said this during a meeting with US Ambassador to Nepal, Randy Berry, at his residence this morning, the Prime Minister's Secretariat said. Matters relating to Nepal-US relations and cooperation, including medical support, were exchanged during the meeting. The US ambassador had congratulated PM Deuba on Tuesday through social media. Nepali Congress president and parliamentary party leader Deuba took the oath of office and secrecy on Tuesday.
