348,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines under COVAX facility arrive in Nepal

A sum of 348,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines under COVAX facility has been arrived in Kathmandu today morning. Health Minister Hridayash Tripathi has received the vaccines today that were provided to Nepal under the international iniciatives coordinated by World Health Organization (WHO).

Aircraft carrying COVID-19 vaccines from China fails to land at TIA

KATHMANDU: An aircraft of the Sichuan Airways arriving from China carrying a shipment of Vero Cell vaccines failed to land at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Monday morning due to adverse weather conditions.  The airplane returned to China with the medical supplies given to Nepal under the COVAX facility. The supplies incorporating 121,887 doses of vaccines are assisted by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).  Similarly, 1,870,500 doses of vaccines will be arriving from India on Monday itself. So far Nepal has imported 35,466,980 doses of COVID-19 vaccines and 21,654,109 vaccines have been administered.

Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines gets approval for emergency use among children in Nepal

KATHMANDU, September 12: The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine has been granted approval for emergency use against the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Nepal. The Department of Drugs Administrations (DDA) has granted the approval to administer Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines among childrens in Nepal. “The DDA has granted permission to distribute Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines through the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP),” said Narayan Prasad Dhakal, Director General of the department. “The government can now procure the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines and administer it among childrens.” The government has begun preparations to administer Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines to children who are more than 12 years old. Nepal is scheduled to receive 100,000 doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines in a few days through the COVAX facility. So far, along with the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, Covishield, Vero Cell, J & J and Astrazeneca vaccines have been given approval for emergency use against COVID-19. (With inputs from Annapurna Post)

Nepal receives over 200,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines from Japan

KATHMANDU, August 22: Of 1.6 million doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines pledged by the government of Japan through the COVAX facility, 208,700 doses have arrived in Kathmandu on Saturday. A representative of the Embassy of Japan in Kathmandu handed the vaccine to representatives of the Ministry of Health and Population at a brief event at Tribhuvan International Airport. Remaining doses are scheduled to arrive on Sunday and Monday, said the Ministry. Earlier, in the first phase, 900,000 doses of the vaccine were brought to Nepal on August 7 and 8.

Nepal receives 6.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines so far

Nepal has received a total of 6,582,850 doses of COVID-19 vaccines via grants, purchases and under the COVAX facility so far.

New batches of Chinese COVID-19 vaccines arrive in Indonesia

JAKARTA, April 30: New batches of COVID-19 vaccines produced by Chinese pharmaceutical companies arrived at Indonesia's Soekarno-Hatta Airport on Friday, an Indonesian official said.     "Today, 6 million doses of bulk COVID-19 vaccine from Sinovac Biotech Ltd and 482,400 ready-to-use vaccines from the China National Pharmaceutical Group (Sinopharm) have arrived," Minister of Communications and Informatics Johnny Plate said.     Indonesia has received a total of 65.5 million doses of bulk COVID-19 vaccine from Sinovac, as well as 8.448 million doses of ready-to-use vaccines from Sinovac, Sinopharm, and AstraZeneca through the COVAX Facility initiated by the World Health Organization.     The bulk from Sinovac that arrived Friday will be brought to the state-company PT Bio Farma office to be processed into ready-to-use vaccines.     Meanwhile, the vaccine produced by Sinopharm will be used for a mutual vaccination scheme locally known as "Gotong Royong", where companies or legal entities can arrange the COVID-19 vaccine rollout for their employees for free to help the country achieve herd immunity faster.     Indonesia's Food and Drug Administration (BPOM) has just issued an emergency use authorization (EUA) for the Sinopharm vaccine.     "We are announcing that an emergency use authorization has been given for a vaccine produced by the Beijing Biological Products Institute under Sinopharm," chief of BPOM Penny Lukito said Friday.
