KATHMANDU, April 28: Nepal reported a total of 4,897 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease in the past 24 hours.  According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), 4,774 people were diagnosed for the disease through 13,879 RT-PCR tests while 123 others tested positive through 955 antigen tests.  This has taken the country’s total casetally to 312,699 including 3,211 fatalities caused by the viral infection. The ministry confirmed 17 more deaths in the past 24 hours.  As of Wednesday afternoon, 30,209 patients are yet to recover from the disease.  Kathmandu Valley, Banke and Rupandehi report scary daily-count  The Kathmandu Valley reported a total of 2,047 daily-count of COVID-19 cases. Of the three districts in the Valley, Kathmandu confirmed 1,464 cases while 232 people in Bhaktapur and 351 others in Lalitpur tested positive for the virus in the past 24 hours.  Similarly, Rupandehi district in Lumbini Province witnessed a sharp rise in new COVID-19 cases as 434 infections were confirmed on Wednesday alone. All museums in Kathmandu Valley to be closed from Saturday over COVID-19 risk

KATHMANDU, Jan 21: The meeting of chief district officers of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur on Thursday decided to shut down all the museums in the Kathmandu Valley from Saturday in view of the growing risk of COVID-19.  The museums that were being run till date adhering to health safety measures would be shut down temporarily from Friday midnight 12, according to Hanumandhoka Durbar Museum Chief, Sandeep Khanal.  The National Museum, the Narayanhiti Palace Museum, and the museums in Bhaktapur and Lalitpur would be closed for visitors. The government recently decided to shut down all the public offices as well as places drawing a large group of people. It has been decided to shut down to prevent and control a new variant of COVID-19 that is pervasive in the country. The museums will be closed until further notice, according to the statement released by the District Administration Office, Kathmandu.

Valley witnesses 5,549 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday

KATHMANDU, Jan 18: The Kathmandu Valley on Tuesday recorded 5,549 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. Of the 10,258 new cases detected across the country, 5,549 were recorded in the Kathmandu Valley alone which includes Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur districts. The number accounts for 54.09 percent of the total cases detected across the country. Of the total cases detected in the valley on Tuesday, 4,004 were detected in Kathmandu, 570 in Bhaktapur and 975 in Lalitpur districts. Likewise, there are currently 17,709 active cases of COVID-19 in Kathmandu, 2,396 in Bhaktapur and 4,471 in Lalitpur districts. Of 39,044 active cases across the country, 24,576 are in the valley alone.

Kathmandu Valley alone reports 3,939 new COVID-19 cases on Monday

KATHMANDU, Jan 17: The three districts in the Kathmandu Valley, on Monday, witnessed a total of 3,939 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).  According to the daily COVID-19 updates released by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), Kathmandu district alone reported 2,943 new cases in the past 24 hours. While 795 new cases were detected in Lalitpur, 201 others tested positive for the virus in Bhaktapur district.  Monday’s case tally took the total number of active cases in the Valley, where Nepal’s federal capital lies, to 19,387. It accounts for 62.87 percent of the active caseload in the country as of Monday afternoon.  Of the three districts, Kathmandu has the highest of 13,986 active cases.

However, vehicles for essential services are allowed to operate 24 hours.  The prohibition order has been extended until August 24 coming into effect from today. A meeting of Chief District Officers of three districts in the Valley (Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur) took a decision in this regard.  Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Population has warned of a third wave of the infection.

Nepal reports 2,351 new COVID-19 cases, Kathmandu Valley 1,051

KATHMANDU, April 21:As many as 2,351 more people tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Nepal in the past 24 hours.  According to Dr Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), 2,220 cases were detected through the 8,844 RT-PCR tests while 131 others through the 803 antigen tests on Wednesday.  Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley reported 1,051 new cases in the past one day. Of the three districts in the Valley, 786 new COVID-19 cases were detected in Kathmandu, 84 in Bhaktapur and 181 others in Lalitpur.
