Nepal reports 2,351 new COVID-19 cases, Kathmandu Valley 1,051

KATHMANDU, April 21:As many as 2,351 more people tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Nepal in the past 24 hours.  According to Dr Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), 2,220 cases were detected through the 8,844 RT-PCR tests while 131 others through the 803 antigen tests on Wednesday.  Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley reported 1,051 new cases in the past one day. Of the three districts in the Valley, 786 new COVID-19 cases were detected in Kathmandu, 84 in Bhaktapur and 181 others in Lalitpur.

Alarming: Nepal records 1,090 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, two deaths

KATHMANDU, Aug 9: In an alarming case, Nepal recorded as many as 1,090 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), a total of 6,300 people had undergone COVID-19 tests in the past 24 hours. Of them, 1,090 were diagnosed with the disease. There are currently 5,806 active cases of COVID-19 across the country. Likewise, two people succumbed to COVID-19 on Tuesday. The Kathmandu Valley on Tuesday recorded 387 new cases. Of them, 304 were detected in Kathmandu, 21 in Bhaktapur and 62 in Lalitpur districts.

Nepal records 391 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday

KATHMANDU, July 20: Nepal on Wednesday recorded 391 new cases of COVID-19. According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), 3,981 COVID-19 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. Of them, 340 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and 51 antigen tests turned out to be positive for the disease. With this, Nepal’s active COVID-19 case tally now stands at 2,276 as of Wednesday afternoon. Likewise, the Kathmandu Valley recorded 216 new cases of COVID-19 on the same day. Of them, 22 were detected in Lalitpur, nine in Bhaktapur and 185 in Kathmandu districts.

COVID-19: 260 new cases confirmed on Thursday

KATHMANDU, July 14: Nepal on Thursday recorded 260 new cases of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), 3,844 COVID-19 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. Of them, 206 tests turned out to be positive for COVID-19. With this, the number of active COVID-19 cases has reached 1,171 as of Thursday afternoon. Similarly, as many as 72,320 people received COVID-19 vaccine in the past 24 hours. Of the total new cases recorded today, 164 were detected in Kathmandu Valley alone including 137 in Kathmandu, 23 in Lalitpur and four in Bhaktapur districts.

Kathmandu Valley alone reports 3,939 new COVID-19 cases on Monday

KATHMANDU, Jan 17: The three districts in the Kathmandu Valley, on Monday, witnessed a total of 3,939 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).  According to the daily COVID-19 updates released by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), Kathmandu district alone reported 2,943 new cases in the past 24 hours. While 795 new cases were detected in Lalitpur, 201 others tested positive for the virus in Bhaktapur district.  Monday’s case tally took the total number of active cases in the Valley, where Nepal’s federal capital lies, to 19,387. It accounts for 62.87 percent of the active caseload in the country as of Monday afternoon.  Of the three districts, Kathmandu has the highest of 13,986 active cases.

KATHMANDU, Sept. 6: The authorities in the Kathmandu Valley, Nepal, decided to end the lockdown imposed since late April to check the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Movie theatres, swimming pools, museums and dance clubs can be reopened while conferences and sporting events can be organized by following the health protocols from Sept. 2.

Restriction in Kathmandu Valley eased a bit from today

KATHMANDU, June 15: The prohibitory order extended by a week in the Kathmandu Valley from today has been loosened slightly after the COVID-19 cases started to decrease. The restriction that is enforced simultaneously in all the three districts of the Valley will remain until 12 midnight of June 21. A joint meeting of the Chief District Officers of the three districts of the Valley, namely, Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur, on June 13 decided to ease the prohibitory order and extend it until June 21. During the prohibitory order, people’s mobility will be restricted unless necessary work.  Time duration to open groceries and other shops has been extended until 11 in the morning. During the prohibitory order, vegetable and meat shops, groceries, dairy, stores selling drinking water and cooking gas and department stores will remain open till 11 am. Vehicles supplying goods are allowed to run between 9 am to 11 am. Likewise, stationeries and printing press will remain open until 11 am. Shops selling construction materials and electrical materials are allowed to open after 4 pm. Online marketing and home delivery service will remain open until 7 pm. Vehicle repairing service will be allowed until 9 pm. Agricultural activities and supply of agricultural products will be eased by following the health protocols. Similarly, supply of construction materials will remain open between 9 pm to 5 am. Educational institutions will conduct classes online. Banks and financial institutions will continue their business by mobilising a limited number of human resources by following the health protocols set by the Nepal Rastra Bank. Beema Samiti, Beema Company and Securities Board of Nepal will continue their business on alternative by employing 20 percent of their total human resources.

Record-high COVID-19 cases confirmed in Nepal, 27 more die

KATHMANDU, May 2: Nepal recorded the record high daily-count of COVID-19 cases on Sunday. According to the health ministry, as many as 7,211 new cases were detected throughout the country.  With this, Nepal’s overall case tally has jumped to 336,030. The Kathmandu Valley, where Nepal’s capital city lies, reported 3,595 new cases on Sunday alone.  Similarly, the country confirmed 27 other deaths in the past 24 hours taking the fatality tally to 3,325.
