Rate of fugitive arrests increases by 200%

The data issued by the Nepal Police show that the cases of fugitive arrest increased by 216.89 per cent in the fiscal year 2020/21 compared with the year before. A total of 7,390 fugitives were arrested in 2020/21. That is a figure higher than that of last three years combined. The data shows 2,332 fugitives were arrested in 2019/20; 2,530 in 2018/19; and 2,139 in 2017/18. According to the Nepal Police officers, the number of arrested fugitives shot up in the last fiscal year in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
