The Nepal Police has reported that 26 officers, assigned to different positions, have failed to report for duty.

The data issued by the Nepal Police show that the cases of fugitive arrest increased by 216.89 per cent in the fiscal year 2020/21 compared with the year before.
A total of 7,390 fugitives were arrested in 2020/21. That is a figure higher than that of last three years combined. The data shows 2,332 fugitives were arrested in 2019/20; 2,530 in 2018/19; and 2,139 in 2017/18.
According to the Nepal Police officers, the number of arrested fugitives shot up in the last fiscal year in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
