Nepal Police Club reaches final of PM Cup T-20 Cricket Championship

KATHMANDU, Jan 18: Nepal Police Club has reached the final of Prime Minister Cup T-20 National Cricket Championship.   During the match held at Kirtipur based Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground today, Nepal Police was able to secure a position in the final of the championship defeating Bagmati Province by 50 runs. Bagmati Province garnered only 105 runs, losing eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Nepal Police Club had posted a target of 156 runs before Bagmati Province in the match.   Adil Khanal of Bagmati Province had  hit the highest of 27 runs while Captain Gyanendra Malla contributed 23 runs. Similarly, Ram Naresh Giri remained not out on 22 runs.  Similarly, Dipendra Airi of Nepal Police Club took five wickets while Sagar Dhakal and Arif Sheikh two and one wicket respectively.  Before this, choosing to bat first after winning the toss, Nepal Police Club had collected 155 runs by losing five wickets.  Pawan Sarraf of Nepal Police played a half-century. He hit 59 runs in 54 balls. Dilip Nath made 31 runs while Anil Sah collected 25 runs.  Likewise, Nandan Yadav and Rijan Dhakal each of Bagmati province took two wickets.

Sandeep Lamichhane named Nepal cricket team’s captain

KATHMANDU: Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has named spinner Sandeep Lamichhane as the captain of the Nepal national cricket team.  Sacking captain Gyanendra Malla and Dipendra Singh Airee over disciplinary charges, a board meeting of CAN on Wednesday named Lamichhane the new captain.  Along with Malla and Airee, Sompal Kami and Kamal Singh Airee will not be included in the first six months of the central contract of 2022, a press statement released earlier on Wednesday evening read.

KATHMANDU: Nepali National Cricket Team is batting first against Papua New Guinea (PNG) in the second one-day international (ODI) match to played on Friday.  After winning the toss, Nepali captain Gyanendra Malla said that his side would bat first.  Earlier, the struggling Nepalis side registered a two-wicket victory against the PNG on Tuesday. Though bowlers restricted the PNG batsmen to 134 runs in the 33rd over, Nepali batsmen struggled to chase the 135 runs in the 40th over for the loss of eight wickets.
