PHOTOS: Anti-MCC protesters clash with security personnel at Baneshwar
KATHMANDU, Feb 24: Police and anti-MCC (Millennium Corporate Challenge) protesters clashed at Baneshwar in Kathmandu on Thursday afternoon.
The protesters threw stones and bricks at the police while the police fired tear gas and water cannon at protesters.

KATHMANDU, Feb 20: Cadres of the sister organization of the CPN (Maoist Center), key coalition partner of the government, Young Communist League Nepal, All Nepal National Free Students' Union (Revolutionary) including cadres of some other political parties staged a protest against the Millennium Corporate Challenge (MCC) in the capital on Sunday.
As the protest intensified the protesters and security personnel clashed. The security personnel fired water cannons as the agitating cadres tried to remove the police barricade.

Cadres of political parties opposing the Millennium Corporate Challenge (MCC) took to streets on Wednesday. Huge number of security personnel were deployed to disperse the crowd and control the situation.
As the clash intensified, the security personnel fired tear gas and water cannons.

KATHMANDU, Feb 16: Cadres of political parties and the security personnel deployed in the area clashed at New Baneshwar on Wednesday afternoon.
Protesters of as many as six political parties took to the streets at Maitighar, Babarmahal, New Baneshwar and Minbhawan in Kathmandu to protest against the Millennium Corporate Challenge (MCC).

Eight people including six militants and two security personnel were killed as a clash broke out in Afghanistan's northern Baghlan province on Monday, provincial police spokesman Ahmad Jawed Basharat said.
The clash erupted after a group of Taliban militants attacked the security checkpoints in Baghlan-e-Markazi district of the restive province early morning, triggering heavy fighting which lasted for a couple of hours. The militants fled after leaving six bodies behind.
Two security personnel were also killed in the fighting, the official said. Six more security personnel and eight insurgents were injured.
The security forces would continue to chase the militants in Baghlan-e-Markazi district and its vicinity, Basharat said. Taliban militants who are active in parts of Baghlan province have yet to comment.RSS
