Parliamentary Committee directs govt to review statute of limitation on rape

KATHMANDU, May 23: The Parliamentary Committee has maintained the statute of limitation on rape case should be reviewed in the bid to ensure justice to the victim and directed the government accordingly.  A meeting of the committee held on Monday maintained that at the time when the cases of sexual violance, abuse and traggicking are coming into the lights, it is being problematic for the victims to file the case and initiate investigations due to the statute of limitations. The committee also stated that it would be unjust for the victim not to get justice just because of the  statute of limitation, so it is necessary to be reviewed.
