Nepal Police planning to recruit 130,000 temporary police for upcoming general elections

KATHMANDU, Aug 11: The Nepal Police has maintained that as many as 130,000 temporary police personnel will be required during the upcoming election of House of Representatives (HoR) and Provincial level. In the local polls held earlier this year, the government had recruited as many as 100,000 temporary police. As the number of polling stations will be higher in general elections than in local elections, the number of security personnel required will also be higher, according to the Nepal Police Headquarters. The headquarters is soon to submit a proposal regarding the recruiting of temporary police to the Ministry of Home Affairs. After the approval of the Home Ministry’s proposal by the Ministry of Finance, the recruitment process of the temporary police will begin.
