KATHMANDU, Feb 10: CPN (Unified Socialist), a member of the ruling alliance, has decided to stage a nationwide protest against the Millennium Corporate Challenge (MCC).
The party has decided to stage a nationwide protest on Falgun 1 (February 13).
The party is scheduled to stage a protest in all 77 districts of the country at 2 PM on February.
The party’s decision came at the time when the Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba led government was preparing to ratify the MCC through parliament.
The government has already summoned a meeting of the lower house of parliament on February 3.
BHAKTAPUR, July 13: Tug-of-War, the ancient game which is played enthusiastically by people of all ages and genders is to be expanded nationwide as a sport.
Nepal Tug-of-War Association is to expand the game nationwide in order to preserve the game, which is under the shadow in recent period. In this game two teams pull at opposite ends of a rope until one drags the other over a central line to win it.
Sundar Kumar Shakya (Bhaktapur) has been elected as Chairperson of Nepal Tug-of-War Bagmati Province while Ashish Shrestha (Lalitpur), Niroj Maharjan (Lalitpur), Jamuna Maharjan (Makawanpur) and Murari Prakash Sanjel (Kathmandu) has been elected as Vice-Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and Joint-Secretary, said Central Vice-Chairperson of the Association and Bagmati Province Coordinator, Bhuwan Lal Shrestha.
Similarly, Karmawangel Lama (Sindhupalchowk), Om Pradhan (Sindhuli), Ramesh Shrestha (Dhading), Pralhad Khanal (Kathmandu), Narayan Prasad Shrestha (Ramechhap), Janaki Gurung (Kathmandu), Hira Sharma Nepal (Kavre) and Shreeram Dahal (Kathmandu) are the members.
Chairperson Shakya said that the game would be expanded at the school-level. Central Chairperson of the Nepal Tug-of-War Association, Bhawani Poudel, shared about Association’s future plan, action plan and programmes conducted in past.
Nepal on Tuesday reported 303 new cases of coronavirus infection from across the country. With this, the nationwide infection count has advanced to 270,092.
