Earthquake-ravaged 375 school building reconstructed

BAGMATI, August 4: As many as 375 schools out of 409 earthquake-damaged community schools in Makawanpur district have been reconstructed as of now.  According to the Makwanpur-based District Project Implementation Unit (Education) Hetauda under the National Reconstruction Authority Central Project Implementation Unit, total 1,665 classrooms of 375 schools were reconstructed in the district in the fiscal year 2020/21.  The April 2015 earthquake had completely damaged 2,310 classrooms of 409 schools out of total 516 community schools operational in the district at the time.  Chief of Hetauda-based District Project Implementation Unit (Education) Badri Pathak shared that the reconstruction of quake-damaged schools is gaining momentum in three modalities. Of the reconstructed schools, 313 were rebuilt after signing Memorandum of Understanding through school management committee, 32 reconstructed on the facilitation of different organizations and 32 rebuilt on loan assistance of Japan government and Asian Development Bank.  A informed, the devastating earthquake had caused damages to 46 government buildings, 65 health facilities and 124 temples including monasteries in the district.
