Maoist Center takes action against 14 elected representatives including two mayors

KATHMANDU, June 21: The CPN (Maoist Center) has expelled a total of 14 local people’s representatives from the party. A meeting of the party’s Central Committee, held on Monday, relieved the elected representatives after they decided to leave the party they were elected from, and join others. The list includes two mayors --- Rina Kumari Shah of Maulapur Municipality in Rautahat and Siya Ram Kushwah of Katariya Municipality in Rautahat--- and five deputy mayors ---all from municipalities in Rautahat district. Similarly, chairpersons and vice chairpersons of different rural municipalities and ward chairpersons and members of various local levels across the country were also taken action as they left the party. The Maoist Center sent a letter regarding its decision to the Election Commission (EC) asking the poll-body to update the details, on Monday itself. The party also relieved 17 central committee members of the party including Ram Bahadur Thapa, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Prabhu Sah and Lekhraj Bhatta from the membership of the party after they joined the ruling UML.

Maoist Center decides to ratify MCC

KATHMANDU, Feb 27: CPN (Maoist Center), a key coalition partner of the government, has decided to support the government to ratify the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC). A central committee meeting of the party held on Sunday took a decision to ratify the MCC compact agreement with an ‘interpretative declaration’. The party took the decision after the ruling alliance conducted an ‘interpretative declaration’ on the disputed points. Maoist Center discusses party strengthening issues

KATHMANDU: Standing Committee meeting of the CPN (Maoist Center) on Monday discussed the issues which are believed to strengthen party. The meeting that took place at the party central office Parisdanda dwelt on the party’s upcoming convention, according to party spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara. "Party’s national convention, province and local conferences, party membership renewal and the formation of departments were the agenda on the table in the meeting,” Mahara said. The Standing Committee members shall meet again at 8:00 on Tuesday for further discussion, it is said.

Maoist Center to lay claim on UML’s new logo

KATHMANDU, October 7: Following the reveal of the new logo by the CPN (UML) through their first ever statute congress, the logo aroused a new controversy between the party and CPN (Maoist Center). The Maoist Center has accused CPN (UML) of using their logo. We will take legal actions. The party is currently holding discussions in this regard, Dev Gurung, a leader of Maoist Center told Ratopati. Meanwhile, the CPN (UML) has maintained that the Maoist Center cannot stake claim on their new logo. Earlier when the two parties had merged and formed the Nepal Communist Party (NCP), these two parties then had a common logo. The CPN (UML), now, after its split with CPN (Maoist Center) has slightly changed the logo and endorsed it through their recent statute congress held for the first time in party history.
