PM Deuba summons meeting of key party leaders

KATHMANDU, Aug 8: Prime Minister and President of Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba has summoned a meeting of the key party leaders. The meeting is scheduled to take place at the Prime Minister’s Office at Baluwatar at 9 AM this morning. The meeting will dwell on the upcoming general elections and issues of seat sharing with the coalition members. The ruling NC is eying to be the largest party in the country through the election while the CPN (MC) is targeting to be the second largest. Of the 165 election constituencies, the NC is preparing to claim 99 seats while the CPN (MC) is preparing to claim 50 seats. Likewise, the CPN (US) wants 25 seats and the JSP wants 15 seats. One goes to the Rastriya Janamorcha Party.  A task force has been formed to prepare a strategy for seat sharing in the upcoming polls. The task force is also scheduled to hold its meeting on Monday.

Maoist Center’s Chair Dahal directs party leaders to be united, focus on polls

KATHMANDU, April 15: Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center), Pushpa Kamal Dahal has briefed party leaders to unite and focus on local level polls. Dahal at the meeting of the former standing committee held at Khumaltar this morning urged all the party leaders to unite and focus on result-oriented activities for the election, according to Ganesh Shah, former standing committee member. Besides, Chair Dahal has also directed party leaders not to forge an electoral alliance with CPN-UML if the ruling alliance fails to do so. CPN (Maoist Center) is one of the key coalition partners of the ruling Nepali Congress and the ruling alliance has already decided to forge an electoral alliance during the upcoming local polls.

Province 2’s CM Raut asked to step down by his fellow party leaders

KATHMANDU, NovembeR: Fellow party leaders of Chief Minister Lalbabu Raut of Province 2, who was appointed in the post representing the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), have sought his resignation in an executive committee meeting of the party.  Few of the executive committee members sought resignation of CM Raut accusing him of appointing and dismissing ministers in the province without any discussions. Ram Naresh Ray, who was sacked from his position as minister, has maintained that CM Raut dismissed him without any reasons and discussions. Besides, some of the leaders considered close to Dr Babu Ram Bhattari and Mahendra Yadav have also sought the resignation of CM Raut, according to party sources. These leaders have also expressed dissatisfaction with the working style of Chairman of the party, Upendra Yadav. Meanwhile, CM Raut is preparing to add 12 more members to the executive committee.
