KATHMANDU, August 27: The Supreme Court has postponed the hearings of Nepali Congress lawmaker and former leader Momahad Aftab Alam case on Friday.
Following a demand of defendants to postpone the hearing, hearings of Alam’s case were deferred.
The hearing was scheduled to be conducted by a joint bench of justices Prakash Man Singh Raun and Prakash Kumar Dhungana.
The District Court and the apex court had ordered to send Alam to in custody on charge of burning people in the Brick Industry in Rautahat. Alam had then filed an application against the order at the apex court.
Alam was arrested on October 12 last year.

KATHMANDU, June 14: Former lawmaker Hari Bhakta Adhikari has passed away on Sunday night. He was 76.
Adhikari had been suffering from diabetes and blood pressure. He was admitted to Manamohan Memorial Hospital in Swayambhu on June 11 after his health worsened, said the family of the deceased. He died at 11 pm, said Pradip Raj Adhikari, president of the Nepali Congress Lamjung-Kathmandu liaison committee.
Born in 1998 BS at Duradanda in Lamjung district, Adhikari, former NC President, Lamjung, was elected to the House of Representatives in 2056BS from the NC from Lamjung constituency 2. He is survived by a wife, two sons and a daughter.
The Nepali Congress (NC) has expressed deep sorrow over demise of former lawmaker Mohammadi Siddiqui.
Party chief whip Balkrishna Khand in a condolence message today extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and wished for eternal peace of the departed soul.
Siddiqui who had her active participation in democratic movements in the country was elected to the first Constituent Assembly in 2008 from the NC. She was an active politician and was associated with several social organisations.
As a dedicated social activist, the promotion of social service and human rights issues primarily of the rights of women were her areas of working. She died on April 24.
She was committed to strengthening the party and its organisation. The party has termed her death an irreparable loss to the party itself and the social sector.
