Chhabdibarahi handed over as religious forest

DAMAULI, July 14: The Division Forest Office, Tanahun has handed over Chhabdibarahi of Byas municipality-14 to the community as a religious forest. Division Forest Chief Komal Raj Kafle handed over the ownership of the forest to Chhabdibarahi religious forest chair and Chhabdibarahi Trust chair Than Bahadur Thapa.  Chief of Division Forest Office Byas, Narayan Koirala shared that the religious forest has been stretched over the area of five hectares. The forest area also includes Chhabdibarahi temple.  “Efforts have been made for over 20-21 years to make it a religious forest. It has been materialized after more than two decades”, Koirala added.  The development trust has charted out a master plan to develop Chhabdibarahi temple as the Centre of religious tourism. Thapa shared that the master plan was formulated to preserve the Chhabdibarahi temple, develop environment-friendly physical infrastructure and promote religious and rural agriculture tourism.

Drone cameras being used to monitor forest

KANCHANPUR, June 3: Drone cameras are being used to keep an eye against illegal activities including poaching of wildlife and smuggling of forest products in the forests in the district. The Division Forest Office, Kanchanpur has used two drone cameras in rent to monitor the forest areas aimed at controlling the irregularities in the forest.  The forest officer Ajay Bikram Manandhar shared that they were planning to purchase the drone cameras to monitor the forest.  He added that they were imparting training to the technicians for operating the drone as other means of monitoring were not found effective in dense and remote forest areas.  Patrolling and other kinds of mobilization were also not possible in this pandemic hour therefore such technology could be more effective, Manandhar said.
