Maoist Center to withdraw support to KP Oli-led govt

KATHMANDU, May 4: The CPN (Maoist Center) on Tuesday decided to withdraw its support extended earlier to the KP Oli-led government.  A Standing Committee meeting of the party held on Tuesday took a decision to this effect, according to a Standing Committee member.  The party had earlier assigned the party’s Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' to take necessary decisions on the withdrawal of the support to the government. However, the party was unable to withdraw its support after discussions with the Nepali Congress and the Janata Samajwadi Party failed to form a new equation. As Prime Minister KP Oli decided to take a vote of confidence on  May 10, the party held a meeting and formally decided to withdraw its support.

We can break the ruling alliance in a week if we want: KP Oli

KATHMANDU, May 8: Chairman of CPN-UML, KP Sharma Oli has maintained that the UML can break the ruling alliance in a week if it wants. Addressing a press conference on Sunday, Oli maintained that the ruling alliance will fall on May 13. KP Oli also expressed his concern over remarks made by  Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center) at Chitwan recently. “The act was wrong and against ethics of politics,” he said.  Likewise, Oli took the opportunity to criticize Nepali Congress throughout the press meeting.

UML holds legacy of NCP: KP Oli

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli said that the party holds the legacy of the erstwhile Nepal Communist Party (NCP).  Presenting his political document in the ongoing statute congress of the party on Friday, Chairman Oli said that the UML is the continuation of the NCP. “This is a unified party and this is the first statute congress of the unified party.”  On occasion, the unification could not succeed due to some persons in the party. According to him, they were forced to return to the UML as the court revived through its verdict. “Though the NCP was split, the UML holds its legacy,” he added.  It is to be noted that the NCP, which was formed after the merger between UML and CPN (Maoist Center) in 2018, was invalidated by the Supreme Court’s order on February 23, earlier this year.  The main opposition is holding its first Statute Convention starting Friday.

No possibility of merger between CPN (US) and Maoist Center: Madhav Nepal

KATHMANDU: Chairman of CPN (Unified Socialist), Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that there is no possibility of merger between CPN (US) and CPN (Maoist Center). Assuming the office as the parliamentary party leader of the CPN (US) at the PP office, Singha Durbar on Thursday, Chairman Nepal claimed that his party with revolutionary thoughts will not merge itself into the Maoist Center.  “This party has been formed after a revolt against the autocracy of KP Oli,” he said.  On a different note, Nepal said that the Sher Bahadur Deuba-led Cabinet is less likely to be expanded before September 8.

CPN (Maoist Center) formally withdraws support to Oli-led govt (with letter)

KATHMANDU, May 5: CPN (Maoist Center) has formally withdrawn its support extended earlier to the KP Oli-led government. A letter was submitted to the Federal Parliament Secretariat that the party no longer supports to the Oli-led government, according to Dev Gurung, party’s chief whip. Earlier, a Standing Committee meeting of the party on Tuesday decided to withdraw its support to the government.
