KATHMANDU, May 28: At a time when the Constitutional Bench is hearing on the 30 writ petitions registered against the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR), Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Friday made an attempt to justify the dissolution citing it as a constitutional process.
PM Oli, who addressed the nation on Friday afternoon from his Singh Durbar-based office, accused the opposition alliance including a faction of the ruling party CPN-UML of attempting to use parliament to fulfill the vested interests and frustrations of a limited number of people.
He remarked that the lower house of parliament could not complete its full tenure of five years due to the opposition parties despite his ‘constant efforts to save it’.
He also took time to argue that the parliament was dissolved as per the constitutional provisions as the parties failed to form an alternative government as per the Article 76 (5) of the Constitution of Nepal.
‘Vaccines for all’
On the occasion, Oli also promised vaccines against COVID-19 to all eligible citizens adding that vaccines would be administered to those waiting for the booster dose and for others as well.
