TANAHU, September 14: Tanahu Society, Hong Kong, has provided Rs 456,000 financial support to two youths suffering from kidney disease.
Khim Bahadur Nepali, 36, and Lum Bahadur Rilami of Rishing rural municipality-8 got the financial assistance. The Society handed over Rs 274,000 to Nepali and Rs 182,000 to Rilami.
Nepali is suffering from kidney disease for the past 10 months while Rilami for the past five years. Nepali is undergoing treatment in Pokhara and Rilami at Damauli Hospital, said former chairperson of the society, Bhim Raj Gurung.
The financial assistance was handed over after meeting both patients. Similarly, Nepalis working in Saudi Arabia had collected Rs 100,000 for Nepali and the amount was also handed over. It would cost at least Rs 1.5 million to transplant kidney, said Nepali’s wife Chandra Nepali.

LONDON, June 11: The Tamu Society UK has provided Rs 1.125 million in support of the COVID-19 affected people in Nepal. The philanthropic organisation supported the National Innovation Centre set up by Mahabir Pun. It provided Rs 525 thousand to the Centre.
Likewise, the Society has supported Rs 300 thousand each to the foundation set up by media person Rabi Lamichhane and the organisation founded by health worker and writer Radha Poudel, said Chitra Gurung, the founding president of the Society. This amount was collected by the Society through its fund raising campaign.
The Society had also donated PPEs worth 1,000 Pound Sterling to a government hospital in London after the outbreak of the pandemic. It also distributed PPEs to the elderly Nepali population living in Britain and helped the Nepali students as well as distributed food stuff to some 300 Nepalis losing job due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, the Tanahu Society UK has provided more than Rs 808 thousand 640 to the COVID-19 Crisis Management Mega Campaign initiated by the Tanahu Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Nepal.
The Chamber has already distributed health materials worth one million to the local levels, hospitals and security personnel in Tanahu district in the fight against the pandemic.
GANESH KHANIYA (TOKYO), May 11: The Nepali Embassy in Japan has formed a Covid-19 Response Committee to provide support to Nepal in its effort to prevent and control Covid-19 as well as to treat the infected ones.
The meeting of stakeholders convened in Tokyo, Japan on May 9 and chaired by Nepali Ambassador to Japan Prativa Rana formed the committee in participation of the representative from the Non-Resident Nepali Associations (NRNA).
The newly formed Committee is coordinated by Bhawan Bhatta and has representatives of NRNA, Federation of Nepalis Journalists’ Japan chapter, social organizations and sister organizations of various political parties in Nepal among others.
The Committee has urged all the Nepalis in Japan to provide utmost support to help Nepal fight against the second wave of Coronavirus infection.
During the meeting, coordinator Bhatta pledged 1 million Japanese Yen (equivalent to approximately Rs 10,80,382) for Covid-19 response efforts in Nepal.
Similarly, NRNA Japan has announced to provide 300,000 Japanese Yen (equivalent to approximately Rs 324,114) and NBA Japan 100,000 Yen (equivalent to approximately Rs 108,038) among others.
Likewise, MONA Japan and Dolakha Japan Society have committed to provide 50,000 Japanese Yen (equivalent to approximately Rs 54,019) each to Nepal.
JUMLA Dec 23: The political parties in Jumla have drawn a conclusion to establish capital of Province No. 6 in the geography of Karnali area.
