Nepal’s per-day Covid-19 death toll tripled in 3 days. Here are factors that caused this

The number has trebled in the past three days and is expected to keep on rising as hospitals have stopped admitting patients. Some have stopped as they do not have any more beds while many have stopped citing lack of oxygen for new patients.

Deputy Mayor of Saptakoshi Municipality dies of Covid-19

RAJBIRAJ, May 18: Deputy Mayor of Saptakoshi Municipality Asha Chaudhary succumbed to coronavirus infection this morning. Deputy Mayor Chaudhary died at Birat Nursing Home in Biratnagar, according to Uttam Acharya, a resident of Kanchanrup Municipality.  She was admitted to a local health post after suffering from fever, flu and breathing problems some two weeks ago.    Chief of District Health Office Duniyalal Yadav said that the Deputy Mayor was tested positive to coronavirus during an antigen test. After getting infected, she was kept in ICU bed for 10 days and three days in ventilator. Deputy Mayor Chaudhary was also pregnant and the dead baby was removed from her womb just three days ago.  Deputy Mayor Chaudhary is survived by her husband and a seven-year-old son.   With this, the Covid-19 death toll in Saptakoshi reached three, the District Health Office said.

Covid-19 death toll in Baglung hits 17

BAGLUNG, May 12: Two more Covid-19 deaths have been reported in Baglung district taking the death toll from the infection to 17. The deceased--a 66-year-old woman of Dhorpatan Municipality-4 and a 77-year-old man of Baglung Muinicipality-4, who died at Dhawalagiri Hospital and in home isolation respectively. The woman was tested positive for the virus after her death.

Chitwan reports three more Covid-19 death

CHITWAN, May 5: Three more Covid-19 patients have died in Chitwan district in the past 24 hours. They died at various hospitals in the district. A 45-year-old man of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-25 died at Bharatpur Hospital. He was admitted to the hospital on May 2 for pneumonia and was tested positive for the virus on May 3, said the hospital.  Likewise, a 42-year-old man of Butwal Sub Metropolitan City-9 died at Chitwan Medical College. He was admitted to the hospital on May 4 for respiratory problems. He was tested positive for the infection the same day.   Another deceased is a 42-year-old man from Bhumikasthan-1 in Argakhanchi district, who died at Chitwan Medical College. He was admitted to the hospital on May 4 after complaining of respiratory problems. He was found infected with the virus on May 3.
