Communist unity ahead of federal, provincial elections is just a mere dream: Madhav Nepal

KATHMANDU, July 11: Chairman of CPN (Unified Socialist) Madhav Kumar Nepal said that the communist unity ahead of the federal and provincial elections is nothing more than a mere dream. Nepal’s statement comes at the time when the unity between the CPN (Maoist Center) and CPN-UML is surfacing in the country’s political scenario once again. “Unity among communist forces ahead of the election is nothing but a dream. CPN (US) will go for election solely,” Nepal said during a press conference.

UML sacks 14 lawmakers including Madhav Nepal

KATHMANDU, Aug 17: The main opposition party CPN-UML has sacked 14 lawmakers belonging to the party following the Sher Bahadur Deuba led government’s decision to introduce an ordinance amending provisions to split a political party. The UML registered a letter at the Federal Parliament Secretariat seeking dismissal of their membership of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Tuesday. Those relieved from their positions include Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jeevan Ram Shrestha, Mukunda Neupane, Ram Kumari Jhakri, Kalyani Kumari Khadka, Laxmi Chaudhary, Nira Devi Jairu, Pushpa Kumari Karna, Sarala Kumari Yadav, Kalila Khatun, Birodh Khatiwada, Krishna Lal Maharjan, Bhawani Khapung and Metmani Chaudhary.
