Health support materials handed to security personnel and journalists

MUGLIN, June 2: Chitwan Association of Industries has provided health material support to security personnel and journalists of Ichhakamana rural municipality of Chitwan on Tuesday.  The health aid was handed over to the security personnel of Armed Police Force Nepal Disaster Management Training School, Kurintar, Area Police Office, Kuriintar and journalists amidst a programme on the premises of rural municipality.  The support handed over to the security personnel and media workers were 2,500 pieces of masks, 90 sanitizers, three PPE sets, 50 face shields and 50 cartoons of water to APF Nepal Disaster Management Training School; 2,500 prices of masks, 90 sanitizers, three PPE sets, 50 face shields and 20 cartoons of water to Area Police Office Muglin and 7500 pieces of masks, 15 sanitizers and 15 face shields to working journalists.  Association’s senior vice-chairperson Trilochan Kandel, Ichhakamana rural municipality chairperson Geeta Kumari Gurung and Association Ichhakamana chapter chair Amar Bahadur Adhikari handed over the health support materials.

NA Polls: Health safety protocols mandatory

KATHMANDU, Jan 21: The Election Commission has urged all expected to be involved in voting and vote counting to follow the health safety protocols in the National Assembly member election taking place on January 26.   All the stakeholders including voters, candidates, representatives of the parties, security personnel and volunteers have been asked to adopt health safety protocols determined by the government in order to make the election safe and systematic.  The election-related health safety protocols issued by the EC here today asked those who have got permission to enter the voting station and voting centre wearing masks after showing the evidence of administering full-dose of a vaccine against COVID-19 and to wash hands with soap and water as well as sanitize their hands mandatorily before entering the voting centres.  There would be an arrangement of thermal guns and two health workers with necessary health supplies at the voting centres. Arrangement of the health desk should be made from the concerned District Health Office or District Hospital at the coordination of the Ministry looking after the health sector of the concerned provincial government.  Employees, security personnel, volunteers, observers, candidates, voters have to maintain social distancing at the voting centres.  Only employees and security personnel who have taken full dose vaccines will be mobilized at the voting centre, polling booth and vote-counting centre. Similarly, all the persons including the employees, security personnel and volunteers mobilized at polling centres and vote counting centres should mandatorily put on a face shield, gloves and masks, the EC stated.  Likewise, the voters are required to compulsorily use sanitizer after casting ballots at the polling booth while the polling officer should make arrangements for sanitizing from time to time the voting materials like the stamp, inkpad and others that are used by the voters in the secret booth.  Assistant spokesperson of the Election Commission Komal Prasad Dhamala said that the polling officer concerned can make additional health safety arrangements as per the situation of the polling centre and booth on the basis of the determined health safety protocols. The Election Commission has urged cooperation from all sides for conducting the forthcoming National Assembly member election safe and systematic.

Booster dose administration to front line workers begins (with photos)

KATHMANDU, Jan 16: The government began administering booster dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 to the frontline workers from Sunday.  Front line workers including health professionals, security personnel, journalists, cleanliness staff, ambulance and hearse drivers, female health volunteers and staff at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) are being inoculated with booster jabs as per the decision made by the Health and Population Ministry on January 12.  Here are some photos taken at a vaccination center in the capital on Sunday afternoon.

Frontline workers to be administered third COVID-19 jab from next week

KATHMANDU, Jan 8: The government is preparing to administer the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to frontline workers.  According to Dr Roshan Pokharel, secretary at the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), frontline workers including medical professionals and security personnel and senior citizens of more than 60 years of age will be inoculated with the third dose of the vaccine against the infectious disease.  Similarly, those with poor immune systems will also get the additional jab.  Vaccinating the senior citizens and those with poor immune systems will begin from the third week of this month, according to Dr Pokharel.  “The additional dose is being administered in view of the possible outbreak of the third wave of the disease,” he added.

BAJHANG, June 28: Medical goods have been provided to various local units, the District Hospital Simkhet and the security personnel in the district. This assistance has been made available through the United Mission to Nepal (UMN) to contribute to the fight against COVID-19.  The medical goods distributed on Sunday include oxygen, PPE sets, pulse oxymeter, surgical masks, folding beds and mattresses to hospital and health safety materials required for isolation, UMN's Bajhang team leader Jyoti Chapain said. The medical goods are worth Rs 1.64 million. Chief of the District Hospital, Sandip Okheda and Chief District Officer, Mohan Adhikari, thanked UMN and its partner organisations for providing the health assistance at the time of need.

Administration of second shot of Covishield vaccine resumes from today

KATHMANDU, May 26: Those who were vaccinated against the coronavirus in the first phase of vaccination drive priority before March 7, but did not second jab owing to vaccine crunch, are being inoculated from Wednesday With the Health Office of Bagmati Province’s  Social Development Ministry, on Tuesday, deciding to continue the drive , the second dose will be administered to frontline workers including the health professionals, security personnel and sanitation staff.  According to the Lalitpur-based Health Office, only security personnel will be vaccinated for the second dose on Wednesday while health workers, government employees, sanitation staff, media persons, staff at diplomatic missions, public enterprises and financial institutions are scheduled to receive the second shot of the Covishield vaccine on Thursday and Friday.  One should visit the Jawalakhel-based Metropolitan Police Circle on Wednesday while the Health Office, Lalitpur has been designated as the vaccination center for Thursday onwards.  One is required to produce the vaccine card, which s/he had received during the first shot, and an identity card for the second shot, according to the office.

According to the Health Directorate under the Social Development Ministry of Bagmati Province,  those receiving the first shot of vaccines can visit any of the convenient vaccine centers for the second dose between until Saturday (April 24). They are also required to show their vaccine cards before getting the second shot, according to the Directorate.  A total of 20 vaccine centers have been set up inside the Kathmandu valley.  As many as 438,879 frontline workers including medics, government employees, security personnel, cleaning staff, media persons employees at diplomatic missions and financial institutions among others were administered the first dose of the Covishield vaccines against the viral infection between January 27 and February 22 earlier this year.
