KATHMANDU, Oct 13: As many as 35 people died and 13 others have gone missing in Karnali Province after Dashain festival due to disasters triggered by incessant rainfall.
13 people have gone missing in a landslide in Tilagufa Municipality-4 of Kalikot district. These people were attending a funeral ceremony of Hemraj Shahi.
A total of 20 people have gone missing since October 5 in Karnali Province. Of them, 18 are from Kalikot district.
After the Tika of Dashain festival, as many as 35 people have died due to floods and landslides in Karnali Province. According to the Karnali Province Police Office, a total of 23 people were injured during this period. Likewise, as many as 480 people have been displaced and 2,889 families have been affected.
Four persons died and five others sustained injuries after being buried by a landslide in the Humla district of Karnali.

SURKHET, Aug 1: The Karnali Highway has been obstructed after a landslide occurred at Chaukhola of Khandachakra Municipality-10 at 10:00 am today. The District Administration Office said efforts were continued to clear the landslide deposition and restore the Highway.
According to Chief District Officer Krishna Prasad Acharya said the efforts were going on to restore the Highway. The Department of Roads and the local governments were collaborating towards that end. "We target to prepare the road ready for the operation of vehicular movement by this evening," he added.
Goods-laden containers and passenger buses en route to Surkhet and Nepalgunj from Jumla and to Jumla from Surkhet have left stranded with the disruption of the Highway, according to a local Raj Bahadur Malla.
MANMA, July 2: The Karnali Corridor Road, which was disrupted due to a huge dry landslide at Bhaurekuna of Sanni Triveni rural municipality-1, Kalikot district, has become operational from today.
Vehicular movement resumed on the road after the landslide debris deposited on the road was removed this morning, the rural municipality chairman Dambar Bahadur Shahi said. The roadway has been resumed after 12 days.
The road was cleared up through joint efforts of the Nepali Army, Nepal Police and the locals.
