A special committee formed to study the name and permanent capital of province 2 has submitted its report in the sixth meeting of the eighth session of the provincial assembly held on Sunday.
A report published by Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC), Nepal, shows that 115 cases of human rights violation were recorded across Dhanusha district in 2021.In the majority of those cases, women and children were the victims. It also showed that the cases of murders within families had increased while human rights violation by the government was in decline.
The report shows that among 752 cases of human rights violation across Province 2, 63 were by the government sector.
KATHMANDU, Dec 26: The 8th General Convention of the CPN (Maoist Centre) is all set to kick off at 3 PM, Sunday.
Representatives and observers from all seven provinces and three non-territorial provinces are participating in the general convention.
Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda's political report, legislation and other documents will be presented at the convention which lasts for three days.
A program has been developed to discuss these reports in 20 different groups. Arrangements for group discussion have been made in all the halls of the Kamaladi-based Nepal Academy and at the party's central office in Paris Danda.
As soon as the inaugural session is over, discussions on political reports and legislation will begin. There is also a leadership selection program. So far, there is no clear blueprint for the Eighth General Convention to select the Central Committee and select the office bearers from it or follow the election process in its entirety.
A total of 1,631 delegates will be represented at the conference including 1,483 selected through regular process and 148 nominated.
According to the UCPN (M) central office, there are 179 participants from the organizing committee. Similarly, 149 delegates have been elected from the advisory council, 125 from the senior communist forum, 102 from the central department, 27 from the central delegates and 803 from the provincial delegates. Similarly, 96 participants from Province 1, 106 from Province 2, 128 from Bagmati, 74 from Gandaki, 105 from Lumbini, 87 from Karnali, 84 from Far West, 34 from abroad, 42 from special zones and 83 from liaison coordination have been arranged.
For the first time, the party has decided to give a special role to women, Dalits, and indigenous communities in the central committee as per the constitutional provision. Women have been allotted a share equal to 35 percent.
KATHMANDU, November 17: The annual report of the Commission of Investigation for Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has indicated that Nepal has the highest level of corruption at its local level followed by the provincial level.
According to the report submitted to President Bidya Devi Bhandari, as many as 32.72 percent of complaints of corruption filed at the commission are against the local level. Besides, 15.61 percent of complaints are related to the education sector, 9.09 percent are related to Land Offices, 5.01 percent are related to the environment and forest sector, 3.93 percent to health and population, 3.76 to physical infrastructure and transportation, 3.47 to the home ministry, 3.09 to energy and water resources and 2.09 percent to finance ministry.
In the fiscal year 2020/21, as many as 22,325 complaints of corruption have been filed in the CIAA including 8,200 complaints of last fiscal year which are yet to be heard.
As per the report of CIAA, the highest number of complaints of corruption have been filed in Province 2. Gandaki and Karnali were provinces with the lowest number of complaints of corruption.
As many as 12.54 percent of complaints of corruption were filed in Province 1, 24.56 percent in Province 2, 22.59 percent in Bagmati Province, 7.16 percent in Gandaki Province, 13.72 in Lumbini Province, 7.98 percent in Karnali Province, and 11.45 percent in Sudurpaschim Province.
KATHMANDU, July 27: The Nepali Congress (NC) has provided the party active membership to 852 thousand 711 people across the country. The membership was granted in view of the party's upcoming General Convention scheduled on September 1 to 4.
A report submitted to party President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba by the Active Membership Investigation Committee coordinator Ramesh Lekhak states that 443 thousand 678 have taken the new membership while 409 thousand 33 have got their membership renewed.
Now, the number of the active male members in the party is 653 thousand 438 followed by 199 thousand 97 women and 176 are categorised as others.

Spokesperson of the NOC, Binitmani Upadhyay, informed that plants will be constructed in Province 2 and Charali of Jhapa district in Province 1. The NOC has informed that a technical report is being prepared by appointing a consultant.
DHANUSHA, Feb 11: The works of the province legislature and executive bodies have been affected as not all the civil servants assigned to these bodies have reported for work in Province-2.
