KATHMANDU: Nepalis franchise Everest Premier League (EPL)  kicked off from Saturday.  The tournament is scheduled to take place from September 25 to October 9 at Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. Various six franchise teams from different cities in the country are participating. The winner will be awarded Rs 5 million and first runner-up Rs 1.5 million.  Kathmandu Kings XI  (KKXI) and Lalitpur Patriots (LP) are playing in the inaugural match where (KKXI) is chasing a target of 158 runs.  Here are some photos taken on Saturday afternoon.

KATHMANDU: Former captain of the national men's cricket team of Pakistan, Sahid Afridi has arrived in Kathmandu to play the Everest Premier League (EPL) franchise T20 cricket tournament. All-rounder Afridi, who will be playing on behalf of the Kathmandu Kings XI in the tournament that will be held in the capital from September 25 at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground, Kirtipur, arrived at the Tribhuvan International Airport on Thursday afternoon. During his involvement with the Pakistani national team from 1996 to 2018, Afridi known as  ‘Boom Boom Afridi’ for his massive hits, played 26 tests, 398 one-day internationals and 99 T20 matches. Kathmandu Kings XI is one of the six franchise teams competing in the mega event to be held in the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. Others taking part in the 4th edition of the EPL are defending champion Lalitpur Patriots, Pokhara Rhinos, Chitwan Tigers, Bhairahawa Gladiators and Biratnagar Warriors. KATHMANDU, September 8: The tie-sheet has been published for the fourth edition of the Everest Premier League (EPL) scheduled to take place from September 25 to October 9 in Kathmandu.  The venue for the franchise-based Twenty20 tournament with the highest prize money is Kirtipur-based Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground.  Various six franchise teams from different cities in the country are participating. As per the tie-sheet, the opening match will be played between Lalitpur Patriots and Kathmandu Kings XI. Similarly, Bhairahawa Gladiators will take on Pokhara Rhinos in the second match.  Winner will get Rs 5 million and first runner-up Rs 1.5 million.

Pakistani cricketer Afridi to play for Kathmandu Kings XI in EPL

KATHMANDU, July 26: Former captain of the national men's cricket team of Pakistan, Sahid Afridi has joined the Everest Premier League (EPL) franchise T20 cricket tournament.  Afridi will be playing on behalf of the Kathmandu Kings XI in the tournament that will be held in the capital from September 22. At a press meet held on Monday, the Kathmandu Kings XI announced the contract with the 46-year-old all rounder Afridi. During his involvement with the Pakistani national team from 1996 to 2018, Afridi played 26 tests, 398 one-day internationals and 99 T20 matches. Kathmandu Kings XI is one of the six franchise teams competing in the mega event to be held in the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
