As govt. eased prohibitory order, coronavirus cases increase

KATHMANDU, July 23: With the gradual relaxation in prohibitory orders, the number of coronavirus cases has increased in the recent days. The data from the Ministry of Health and Population reveal the increased number of cases after the government eased the prohibitory order due to crowds and poor implementation of the health protocol. Ministry's Assistant Spokesperson Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari said that more cases of coronavirus have been reported with the increased human mobility since last week. Despite repeated calls to maintain health protocol, avoid crowds and social distancing, there is sheer negligence on the part of its implementation resulting in more cases of coronavirus.  "The infection rate is increasing. More cases are reported in the past one week," Dr Adhikari added. It is said that the coronavirus infection rate in Nepal at present is around 22 per cent. In the recent days, the number of infected ones is almost 3,000 a day.  The government on July 6 had relaxed the prohibitory order in the Kathmandu Valley while allowing the resumption of all sorts of businesses and ending the provision of odd and even number for vehicles   The Ministry has said that there are frequent violations of public health protocol.   Public health experts argue that there is risk of coronavirus infection in Nepal due to surge in coronavirus cases in India because of open border. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Population has warned of third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in Nepal.  It is said that the third wave of coronavirus is likely during September and October.  Issuing a press statement, the Ministry has urged all to be cautious realizing the possible outbreak of third wave of COVID-19.  The Ministry said that the coronavirus infection rate was on the rise with the loosening of lockdown in the country.  The Ministry has also instructed the health care institutions and hospitals and other agencies to remain alert and keep emergency and needed equipments including oxygen cylinders, beds, and medical supplies in ready position.  Dr Adhikari said that the third wave was more risky to children therefore ICU and emergency wards for children should be upgraded and kept in ready position realising the risk of possible outbreak.

Chitwan extends prohibitory order for a week

CHITWAN, June 17: The prohibitory order, enforced by the local administration, has been extended with the rise in the cases of coronavirus infection in the district.  A meeting of the District COVID Management Centre on Wednesday extended the prohibitory order for a week, effective from last night. Issuing a notice, the District Administration Office has extended the order up to 12.00 in the night  of June 24.  With the extension of the prohibition, the order enforced earlier is continued. The departmental stores would remain open according to the order.  Chief District Officer Premlal Lamichhane informed that the department stores are allowed to sell food stuff. Though the earlier prohibitory order has been continued as it was, the committee has shown some flexibility in terms of the operation of departmental stores.  The order has also allowed the operation of book stores by adopting the health safety protocol.  So far 15,131 people have been infected in the district. Among them, 1,429 are actively infected. 129 among them are undergoing treatment in hospitals. As many as 252 people have succumbed to coronavirus infection in the district.

Risk of Covid-19 high in Sarlahi as people negligent of prohibitory order

SARLAHI, May 18: Though the government has imposed prohibitory order after corona virus infection rate started increasing day by day, citizens are not seen serious towards it.  Risk of corona virus infection is high after people started spending their daily lives as before, neglecting the prohibitory order.  The District Administration Office, Sarlahi, has imposed prohibitory order for 10 days in the district. However, locals have been attending different functions like marriage and reception by violating the prohibitory order. The crowd of people in such functions are out of control. The bodies concerned have not paid any concern and attention towards it.  A reception party was organized recently on the road at Pipariya of Kabilasi municipality-2. Hundreds of people had attended the reception.  An ambulance driver Nagendra Sah complained that they have been facing problem to drive the essential vehicles during the marriage and reception time organized on the road.  Sah added, “Though the administration has directed not to gather more than 15 people in any social function, hundreds of people gather here violating administration’s directive.” Chief District Officer Hemraj Tamang claimed that they have not left any stone unturned to get the prohibitory order followed.  He said, “There is lack of awareness among the people. But we are doing our best to get follow the prohibitory order. People in urban areas have been completely following the prohibitory order while there is problem in rural areas. The local levels should also be responsible in this regard.”

Chitwan prolongs enforcement of prohibitory order up to May 26

CHITWAN, May 14: The District Administration Office Chitwan has prolonged the enforcement of prohibitory order up to May 26 with the rise in the outbreak of coronavirus transmission. The order has been enforced in Chitwan since April 27.  The prohibitory order imposed in the first phase is expiring from 12.00 tonight.  According to the order issued by Chief District Officer Premlal Lamichhane, the duration of the enforcement has been extended as per the decision of the District COVID-19 Crisis Management Center (DCMC).  He share that the decision was made to prolong the enforcement for two more weeks with a conclusion that the first round prohibitory order was helpful in containing the spread of coronavirus.

Ahead of prohibitory order, passengers throng Bus Park to head homes

KATHMANDU, April 27: A large number of passengers going home from Kathmandu have thronged at Bus Park in Gongabu in the capital city ahead of the week-long prohibitory order to be enforced in Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur. The prohibitory order will come into effect from coming Thursday, aimed at breaking the chain of coronavirus infection that has rapidly spread in the recent days.  A joint meeting of the Chief District Officers of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur on Monday decided to shut down everything except essential services.  With the decision of the administration, the public vehicles heading to their destinations in the districts are crowded.  Likewise, the passengers for the long routes have complained for unavailability of the tickets to return to their home. Such a problem was reported even due to limited number of vehicles for the long routes. Jayaraj Joshi from Bajhang district said he did not get the ticket to return to his home.
