Nepal Observes People's Movement Day to Commemorate Restoration of Democracy

Kathmandu. Nepal is observing People's Movement Day today with various programs to commemorate the day democracy was restored in the country.The day is being observed to mark the end of the 30-year Panchayat regime and the restoration of democracy on 2046 Chaitra 26 BS. The Panchayat system, which was initiated by King Mahendra on 2017 Poush 1 BS, came to an end on 2046 Chaitra 26 BS.The 30-year Panchayat system ended following a joint people's movement led by the Nepali Congress along with the Left Front.
