Moscow. Russia has involved residents of areas it claims to have illegally annexed from Ukraine in its parliamentary elections for the first time. Ukraine has strongly opposed this move, which the Kremlin has advanced as an effort to consolidate its control. Human rights activists, however, have stated that residents there have been pressured to vote.
