Department Intensifies Market Monitoring Amidst Flood-Induced Shortages

Kathmandu. The Department of Commerce, Supply and Consumer Protection has decided to intensify market monitoring to prevent shortages and price hikes of food grains and cooking gas in the market following disruptions caused by floods and landslides due to continuous rainfall. The department is deploying 10 special teams in the Kathmandu Valley starting Tuesday (tomorrow) to expand the monitoring efforts.According to Anil Kiranti, information officer at the department, the monitoring, which was previously conducted by only 4 teams, will now involve 10 teams comprising approximately 40 people, including additional staff from the ministry, starting tomorrow.
