Archaeological Site Protection in Tilaurakot

Kapilvastu. Additional land is being acquired around the fort for the protection of the archaeological heritage of Tilaurakot, the capital of ancient Kapilvastu. The Department of Archaeology has advanced the land acquisition process in preparation for including Tilaurakot in the World Heritage List.According to the department, excavation and geo-physical surveys conducted outside the fort complex have revealed ruins of ancient structures and other archaeological remains. Land in that area is needed for the study, research, and protection of these structures.According to Sandip Khanal, chief archaeologist of the department, land in various plot numbers under Malpara-1-Kha and Malpara-4-Kha will be acquired....
