KATHMANDU, August 26: As the main opposition party, CPN-UML has split, the chief minister of Province 1, Sher Dhan Rai has lost majority in the Provincial Assembly.
Following this political development, CPN-UML has called it’s parliamentary party (PP) meeting.
The meeting has begun preparation to elect Bhim Acharya as a parliamentary party leader.
As the party entrusts Acharya as a leader of the parliamentary party, Rai is likely to resign from his post. The party will then recommend the chief of the province to appoint Acharya in the post of CM of Province 1. Acharya will then have to take a trust vote within a month. Only if four lawmakers of the party join CPN (Unified Socialist), Acharya is certain to fail to garner majority votes.
