KATHMANDU, May 10: The government has recommended to President Bidya Devi Bhandari to prorogue the special session of the House of Representatives (HoR).
A Cabinet meeting held on Monday evening decided to recommend the prorogation of House session effective Monday midnight. Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota, however, has called the next meeting of parliament for May 13 (Thursday).
The session was summoned for 1 PM on Monday where the parliamentarians voted on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s trust motion. PM Oli, however, lost the motion. He secured only 93 votes, which fell short of 43 votes to win the confidence of parliament.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Oli has reached Sheetal Niwas, official residence of President Bidya Devi Bhandari to visit the latter shortly after the Cabinet meeting.
