Chartered and rescue flights to take place during prohibitory period

KATHMANDU, May 4: The government has suspended domestic flights from Monday night meant to break the chain of Corona Virus. Similarly, international flights would be suspended from May 6 midnight.  However, there would be limited flights between Nepal and India.  According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), all domestic flights and international flights have been suspended, and only two flights a week would take place between Nepal and India.  A council of ministers meeting held on Sunday decided to suspend all the domestic and international flights till May 14 to control the spread of Corona Virus infection. However, chartered and rescue flight would take place during this period, according to CAAN. CAAN Spokesperson, Raj Kumar Chhetri, said that domestic and international chartered and rescue flights would be operated by taking permission on the basis of necessity.  The passengers returning Nepal from India should mandatorily stay in quarantine for 10 days.  Barcode and PCR report with photo has been made mandatory to the passengers for chartered and rescue flights.

Ministry warns of action against arbitrary air ticketing

KATHMANDU, May 20: The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has stated that action would be taken against the airlines companies if they were found involving in irregularities in air ticketing.  The Ministry has urged all to submit such report with evidences through email at info@tourism.gov.np and dgca@caan.gov.np. The Ministry has suspended domestic and international flights since 6 May to 31 May in view of containing COVID-19 spread.  The Ministry has further mentioned that two flights in a week are in operation from and to Kathmandu and New Delhi, India following the health safety protocol.  The Ministry has granted permission to rescue flights from Nepal to abroad if the concerned embassies requested to the Ministry in case of their citizens were stuck in Nepal. The chartered flights could be managed for diplomatic purposes, rescuing the stranded tourists among other important purposes.

13 international flights made at TIA today

KATHMANDU, May 19: Thirteen international flights were made at Tribhuvan International Airport today alone.  According to the Airport Office, 13 flights including rescue flights of different airlines, medical and air bubble were determined. As per the data provided by the Airport, highest seven flights of Nepal Airlines Corporation have been determined while four have been determined for Himalaya Airlines.   Nepal Airlines is scheduled to make one flight each to Beijing and Shenzhen of China, two to Damam and one to Riyadh of Saudi Arabia.  There will be a regular flight to New Delhi of India.  Similarly, Himalaya Airlines would make three flights to Kunming of China and one to Dammam. Sichuwan Air is bringing cargo to Kathmandu from Chengdu while Kathmandu-Delhi chartered flight has been made. Ten flights of helicopters and airlines would be operated towards domestic sector. Rescue, chartered and cargo flights have been made towards domestic and international sectors during the prohibitory period.  The government has suspended international flights from May 6 in order prevent and control Covid-19 pandemic.  Similarly, domestic flights have been suspended from April 29.
