KATHMANDU, September 25: Nepali Congress (NC)’s local level convention began on Saturday while the ward convention of the party is still uncertain in 13 districts.
The convention in rural municipalities kicked off today in the districts where the ward convention concluded as per a pre-scheduled date, according to Jagannath Shrestha, member of the election committee.
The Ward convention of NC that began on September 3 concluded successfully in 64 districts.
In Kathmandu, the results of ward conventions are yet to be received so conventions at the local level are scheduled to begin from October 2.
Likewise, in Lalitpur district, the convention at the local level will kick off on Monday.
According to Shrestha, conventions at the local level will begin in around 60 districts on Saturday.
Meanwhile, NC has prepared to end district conventions in 21 districts before the upcoming Dashian festival.
The district conventions in Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Dolakha, Sindhupalchowk, Rasuwa, Manang, Mustang, Dolpa, Jumla, Mugu, Humla, Kalitot, Bajura, Bhajang, Darchula, Dading, Ramechhap, Gorkha, East Rukum and Myagdi will be concluded before Dashain, Ekraj Pokerel, a member of election committee told Ratopati. Of these 21 districts, conventions at the local level will kick off today except Dolpa and Rasuwa.
Likewise, NC has been unable to conduct ward conventions in 13 districts so far. Due to the active membership dispute, ward conventions have been halted in Parsa, Bara, Rautahat, Sarlahi, Mahottari, Dhanusha, Siraha, Saptari, Dolpa, Rasuwa, Banke, Surkhet and Kalilali.
