No flights have taken off from Nepalgunj for the mountainous districts of Karnali for two days. A lack of en-route weather details has prevented the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) from issuing permits to planes flying from Nepalgunj to high-altitude airports in Karnali. This has stopped all flights to Simkot, said Mohan Giri, chief of CAAN’s Simkot office.
The Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has extended concessional flights to four mountainous districts of Karnali Province.
The national flag carrier started flights to Dolpa from Thursday.
The services have been extended in an effort to mitigate the inconvenience people there have been facing for long.
Kiran Man Shrestha, chief of Civil Aviation Authority, Nepalgunj, said that the flight had extended concessional flights to four districts of Karnali out of a total five and that Kalikot is the only district left out for now.
