KATMANDU, May 23: A human trafficking and sumggling case has been filed against Manoj Pandey, who has been accused of raping a girl few years back, on Monday.
Following the filing of the case, Manoj Pandey was taken to the District Court, Kathmandu to initiate the investigation into the case.
Earlier, the court had already recorded the statement of the victim.
A girl ‘Sushmita’ recently publicized a series of TikTok videos accusing Pandey of raping her after beibg druged inviting her to a success party at Everest Hotel in Kathmandu.
Accused Pandey was arrested from Swayambhu, Kathmandu on Saturday.
Pandey, originally from Bairahawa, was the organizer of Miss Global International in 2014.

KATHMANDU, May 22: A rape convicted person has been found selected for temporary police mobilized during the elecently held local level election.
The officials came to know about the incident only during a farewell event organized to bid farewell to temporary police who served the government for 40 days during the recently held elections.
He is Kamal Prasad Pokharel, 33, of Bhadrapur Municipality-7, Jhapa. He is currently living in Udayapur after migrating there in 2074 BS. He is currently in police custody in Udayapur.
Kamal was convicted in a rape case in Udayapur by the court in 2074 BS. He was accused of raping a 17 years old girl. The court had also slapped a fine of Rs 100,000 and jail term of nine years against him.
The police administration seems to have given little priority to the Criminal Record System while recruiting temporary police.
How was he arrested?
After being recruited as a temporary police personnel, Kamal’s sister had posted his picture in uniform in TikTok. His sister and the victim ( girl who was raped by Kamal) were connected in social media. The victim then reported to police about the incident.

Pandey, originally from Bairahawa, was the organizer of Miss Global International in 2014. He has been accused of raping a girl after the pagent in Everest Hotel in Kathmandu.
The girl recently posted series of TikTok videos claiming that she was raped after being invited to a success party. Social media is currently flooded with comments and many public figures have also supported the ‘victim’. The issue has not only forced youths to take to the streets but also heated parliament.
However, accused Pandey has maintained that the claims are false. "After the videos were released, I tried contacting the police. I have done nothing,” said Pandey.
According to the Kathmandu Valley Crime Division, Pandey was preparing to escape from the valley. Pandey was found hiding in his sister’s residence at Swayambhu, Kathmandu.
Pandey is currently in police custody. The Kathmandu Valley Crime Division has however refused to reveal the location of Pandey.
Similarly, the victim is likely to file a complaint against Pandey on Monday.
