KATHMANDU, November 8: Chief Minister (CM) of Bagmati Province Rajendra Prasad Pandey is scheduled to take a vote of confidence from the provincial assembly on Monday.
Pandey was appointed as the CM of Bagmati Province on October 28 representing the ruling alliance headed by the Nepali Congress as per Article 168 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal following a resignation of his predecessor Asta Laxmi Shakya.
Pandey, who is also a parliamentary party leader of CPN (Unified Socialist), had registered a proposal for a floor test earlier on October 31 at the provincial assembly secretariat. A provincial assembly meeting of the province due to be held on Monday is scheduled to discuss in this regard.
CM Pandey has support of the ruling Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center) and Janata Samjabadi Party.
Pandey is likely to secure a vote of confidence from the provincial assembly being backed up by three parties in the province.
CM Pandey has the support of 59 lawmakers of the province including 23 lawmakers of Maoist Center, 22 of NC, 13 of Unified Socialist and one of JSP in the provincial assembly. Pandey must garner the support of atleast 55 lawmakers to win the vote of confidence.
Likewise, it has been learnt that CM Pandey will extend his cabinet following the floor test.

KATHMANDU, October 27: Chief Minister of Bagmati Province Asta Laxmi Shakya is scheduled to take a vote of confidence on Wednesday.
CM Shakya will be taking a vote of confidence at the Provincial Assembly meeting to be held at 1 PM this afternoon. Shakya had lost the majority in the assembly soon after a week of her appointment as the chief minister of Bagmati Province.
It is likely that a new government of ruling alliance will be formed in Bagmati Province as CM Shakya is certain to lose a vote of confidence.
CM Shakya must garner 55 votes in her favor in order to remain in the same position. There are currently 43 lawmakers of CPN (UML) who will vote in favor of CM Shakya.
Likewise, there are 23 lawmakers of CPN (Maoist Center), 22 of Nepali Congress, 13 of CPN (Unified Socialist) and one of Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) who has announced to vote against CM Shakya during the floor test.

Shakya, who was appointed CM of Bagmati Province on August 18 had lost her majority after the split of CPN (UML). Shakya has already registered a proposal for a floor test at the parliament secretariat on Friday.
It is likely that Shakya will lose the vote of confidence as the odds are against her in the Bagmati Provincial Assembly. There are currently 43 lawmakers of CPN (UML), 23 of CPN (Maoist Center), 22 of Nepali Congress, 13 of CPN (Unified Socialist), three of Bibeksheel Shaja Party, two each of Nepal Workers Peasant Party and Rastriya Prajatantra Party and one of Janata Samajbadi Party.
It is almost certain that a coalition government of CPN (Maoist Center), Nepali Congress, CPN (Unified Socialist) and Janata Samajbadi Party will form in the province. The new government in the province will be led by Rajendra Pandey, parliamentary party leader of the Unified Socialist.
Likewise, small parties in the province have announced they will stay neutral during the floor test.
