Prisoner Escapes Central Jail

Kathmandu. One prisoner has escaped from the Central Jail located in Sundhara, Kathmandu. 25-year-old Sapana Tamang, who was in the women's block, has absconded.She escaped by climbing over the compound wall around 1:30 AM on Friday, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Praveen Dhital, spokesperson for the Valley Police Office, told Ratopati. Tamang, a resident of Nuwakot, had been sentenced to imprisonment by the court on charges of abduction and attempted murder.Central Jail officials say she climbed through a window in the jail compound and then scaled the wall.
