KATHMANDU, Feb 13: Public transportation in the Kathmandu Valley came to a grinding halt for several hours on Monday afternoon due to a massive protest launched by transport entrepreneurs against the 'excesses' of the traffic police.

New normal: Public transportation resumes in Valley (photo feature)

KATHMANDU, June 29: Local administration of the districts in the Kathmandu Valley have introduced relaxations in the ongoing prohibitory orders starting from Tuesday.  Public vehicles with more than 25 seats have resumed their operations on an odd-even basis.  The public bus operators are required to abide by the public health protocol such as maintaining physical distance, making sure that passengers and bus staff wear face masks, managing hand sanitizers and disinfecting the vehicles on a daily basis among others.  Similarly, the number of passengers should not exceed the allowed seats.  With the recent orders, the public vehicles are allowed to operate their services between 6 AM and 7 PM.  See the photos taken on Tuesday morning.
