KATHMANDU: The Tenth General Convention of the main opposition CPN-UML has officially kicked off on the banks of the Narayani River in Chitwan.
UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli hoisted the three flags including Nepal’s national flag, communist party’s flag and UML’s flag to formally inaugurate the party’s national jamboree.
Earlier, rallies of party cadres and delegates originating from various places including Birendra Campus, Shahid Chowk, Aanptari, Hakim Chowk, Gaindakot, Buspark and Bishal Chowk joined the opening session.
Key leaders of various political parties including Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Chairman Upendra Yadav, Democratic Socialist Party (DSP) Chair Mahantha Thakur, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Kamal Thapa and CPN (Maoist Center) leader Lila Mani Pokharel and representatives of various international political parties are present on the stage.
The program is being hosted by UML spokesperson and former minister Pradeep Gyawali.
Standing Committee member and former minister Ram Bahadur Thap delivered a welcome speech ahead of the inauguration ceremony.
