Maoist Center Chair Prachanda proposes holding party’s National Convention in December

KATHMANDU, Aug 14: The ruling CPN (Maoist Center) is holding its National Convention from December 26 to 28.  Party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, during Satudnay’s Central Committee meeting, proposed to hold the National Convention after concluding local level and provincial conventions.  The party’s CC meeting is underway at Battisputali on Saturday afternoon where Chairman Prachanda tabled a political and organizational report.  Here is the timeline of party’s convention as proposed by Prachanda:  1. Membership renewal and new membership distribution by mid-September  2. Cell gathering - Sept 26,, 2021 3. Ward convention- Oct 6, 2021 4. Local level convention- Oct 16, 2021  5. Maoist Center Office Bearers meeting begins

KATHMANDU, Aug 2: The office bearers meeting of the CPN Maoist Center has started at the party’s central office in Parisdanda. The meeting will pass the agendas of the central committee. Maoist Chair Prachanda, leader Shreshta contract COVID-19

KATHMANDU, Jan 8: CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Puspha Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has contracted COVID-19.  According to his secretariat, Prachanda tested positive for the virus on Friday evening. He is staying isolated at his private residence.  Meanwhile, another Maoist leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha also shared that he tested positive for the virus. Taking to social media on Saturday morning, Shrestha said that he would remain isolated at home for at least two weeks.  Prachanda has suspended all the meetings since Wednesday as some of the party leaders and staff at the party headquarters in Paris Danda contracted the virus. Meanwhile, the party’s central committee meeting scheduled for Sunday was also postponed until further notice.

KATHMANDU, Jan 3: Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has been re-elected the chairman of the ruling CPN (Maoist Center).  The first meeting of the newly-elected central working committee held on Monday afternoon unanimously elected Prachanda as the party chairman for the next five years.  Leader Naryan Kaji Shrestha proposed Prachanda’s continuity as the chairman which was approved by the central working committee members.  The committee is scheduled to pick other office bearers through Monday’s meeting itself.

Maoist Center calls emergency Standing Committee meeting

KATHMANDU: Ruling CPN (Maoist Center) has called an emergency Standing Committee meeting.  Party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda” summoned the meeting at its Paris Danda-based headquarters.  “The meeting began a while ago,” said Bishnu Sapkota, press aide to Chairman Prachanda. He further added that the meeting is discussing the party's organizational issues.  An SC meeting last week designated in-charges and deputy in-charges of seven provinces and chiefs of the district coordination committees.

Maoist Center Chair Prachanda urges govt to gear up for search and rescue

KATHMANDU, June 16: CPN (Maoist Center) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has urged the government for the immediate search, rescue and relief of the citizens gone missing in flood and landslides. Issuing a press release on Wednesday, the former prime minister made a special appeal to the government to promptly carry out rescue and relief of the affected people and to make the relief works more effective. He has also urged the party's entire rank and file to be mobilized in an integrated manner in the rescue and relief of the flood and landslide victims.  Leader Dahal also called for immediately making arrangements for providing immediate compensation to the families of those who died due to the natural disaster, for stepping up efforts in the search of the missing people and to provide free medical treatment to the persons injured due to the disaster.  Likewise, the Young Communist League Nepal, the youth organisation of the party, has directed its members and cadres to be involved in the search, rescue and relief of the flood and landslide-affected. YCL Nepal Chair Ram Prasad Sapkota and general secretary Subodh Raj Sherpali made this appeal through a press release today.
