POKHARA, May 27: The work of burying and dredging of the wetland area of Fewa lake located in Pokhara Municipal Corporation and Annapurna Rural Municipality will be stopped.
The pair of Meena Budhathoki and Prakash Parajuli has bagged the title of 'First Dohori Champion' in the nationwide televised Dohori song competition organized by the Nepal Television.
In the finals held at the bank of the Fewa lake in Pokhara on Saturday evening, the couple won the title including a prize money of Rs. 2 million and life insurance coverage worth Rs 10 million.
Similarly, Shobha Karki and Bal Chandra Baral were declared the second. They received Rs 1 million in cash and Rs 5 million worth of insurance coverage.
The pair of Rita Rawat and Sabin Acharya came third with a prize of Rs 300,000 while the pair of Meena Nepal and Rajendra Pathak bagged a consolation prize of Rs 200,000. Chief Minister of Gandaki Krishnachandra Nepali Pokhrel, General Manager of Nepal Television Phulman Bal and other guests distributed prizes to the winners.
KATHMANDU, Jan 30: The Supreme Court (SC) has asked the government to submit a progress report on the implementation of an order it issued a year ago concerning land encroachment at Fewa lake in Pokhara. The apex court move has come in response to a contempt to court petition filed on August 30, 2018 by advocate Khagendra Subedi, accusing the government of not heeding the court .
POKHARA, Aug 3: It may surprise many that land at famous Fewa Lake in Pokhara has been registered for years in the names of private individuals. It has been learnt that land around the lake, which is listed as a Ramsar wetland conservation area, has been registered as private property and the area of the lake also shrunk from 10 square kilometers in 1961 to 4.20 square kilometers in 2008.
