Vote Count in Bharatpur metropolis halted as police arrest UML cadre

KATHMANDU, May 23: Vote count in Bharatpur Metropolitan City has been halted as the police arrested a CPN-UML’s cadre. The police had arrested the UML’s cadres after the arrestee tried entering the vote counting center. Following the arrest, the UML opposed the move and maintained that the party wouldn't allow vote counting unless their cadre was released. It is prohibited to enter the voting center except the officials. The vote count in the metropolis is almost over. Renu Dahal of CPN (Maoist Center) , backed by the ruling alliance, is currently leading the vote count with a huge margin.

Weapon stolen from barracks used to 'murder' soldier

KATHMANDU, Aug 8: Bharat Gurung, Sergeant of Nepal Army was found dead at Bharatpur-17, Simaldanda in Chitwan district on July 22.  According to a preliminary investigation by police, he was shot dead by another army man Gangahar Dahakl. SP at Chitwan District Police Office said that an automatic sub machine gun (SMG) was used to shoot Gurung dead.  It was revealed in the police investigation that Dhakal stole the weapon from an army barracks some two years ago. POlice infestation revealed that Dahal stole the gun from Kali Bahadur Battalion in Chitwan. Man shot dead in Chitwan

CHITWAN, July 22: A man was found dead at a canal near Mansingh Chowk at Bharatpur Metropolitan City-17 in Chitwan district.  The identity of the deceased has not been ascertained. The deceased in his early 30s has sustained bullet injuries in the head and the police recovered a shell from the incident site, said Superintendent of Police, Om Prasad Adhikari. Investigations into the incident were underway, he added.

Two adolescents drowned to death in a canal

CHITWAN, July 22: Two adolescent boys drowned to death in a canal. Ankeet Joshi, 16, and Bibek Sharma, 14, of Bharatpur metropolitan city-2, Chhetrapur died after being drowned in a canal.  According to the District Police Office, Chitwan, Bibek slipped into the canal nearby Chhetrapur open ground at around 4.00 pm on Wednesday where he went to wash his hands and legs.  Ankit also went missing in the canal in his attempt to save his friend Bibek. Police rescued both from the canal (some 200 meters away) and rushed to the Bharatpur hospital for treatment.  The boys had reached the nearby canal to beat the heat after playing cricket in the open ground, police informed.  They were pronounced dead while undergoing treatment at the hospital on Wednesday evening, police confirmed.

Two die, seven injured in road accident

Two persons were killed and seven others injured when a van skidded off the road at Rampur of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-19.  Identity of the deceased men, who belonging 45 to55 age group, has not been established yet, said the police. Of them, one 45-year-old died on the spot and the 55-year-old at Old Medical College. Of the injured receiving treatment at various hospitals in Chitwan, two are said to be in serious condition and others are out of risk, said the police. The ill-fated van (Na 1 Ja 6859) was headed to Sharadanagar from Bharatpur.
